Christmas is less than two weeks away, and every year it has become a tradition here at DER to make a Christmas miracle come true for lives in need.
This year we would like to continue our tradition and save these three
horses who are currently standing in a direct ship kill pen. No horse
deserves a life of abuse or neglect, or to end their days in the pain
and fear of the slaughterhouse. We can't save every horse; but we can
step in to try to help those most in need. Please help
us bring these three deserving horses home for the holidays and join us
in saving their lives. There is a sweet buckskin teenage mare, a large
pony gelding who is said to be approximately 3 years old and very scared
(understandably), and a skinny and beat up senior mare who has a wound
inside her hind left leg. It might be cellulitis. She’s approximately
12-12.2 hands and needs the veterinarian asap.
We
believe we will need around $9,000 to cover shipping, coggins, health
certs, bail, their first couple of vet and farrier appointments,
medications, and hay for their first three months with us.
